Getting
Around
The Isle of Wight is only around 23 x 13 miles, so none
of the Island's many attractions are very far away.
If you're travelling by car
the Island has a good network of roads, although these tend to be country roads,
in keeping with its traditional nature. It is possible to use public transport
on the Island and you will find connections to all the service providers' web
sites on the Links Page.
|
Within a fifteen-minute drive of Silver Glades you will
find numerous attractions, such as Fort Victoria, Calbourne Water Mill, The
Needles, Alum Bay, Carisbrooke Castle, Chessell Pottery, Dimbola Lodge, Winkle
Street and picturesque Yarmouth. Within the same area, you will also find sandy beaches
at Colwell Bay, Totland Bay, Freshwater Bay and Compton Bay, together with the
beautiful scenery of Tennyson Down, Compton Down, Brightstone Down and Newtown
national nature reserve. Details of these and all the attractions to be found
on the Island can be found by connecting with the sites suggested on the
Links Page. |

|
If you would prefer to walk or cycle
to get around the island there is a well established network of paths for both.
The contacts suggested on the Links Page should provide you with all the information you
need to plan routes and obtain equipment.
